Its located in Boran zone of the Oromiya region west of the town it’s home to many birds of Ethiopia having an area of 2,400 square kilometers and elevation range from 1440 to 2000 meters above sea level, The general types of Vegetation acacia savanna, the area is unique to endemic Swayne hartebeest and home to endemic birds of Ethiopian such as endemic birds bush crow and white-tailed swallow, and another none endemic birds are quite easily spotted the general vegetation types is acacia savanna,
Unique feature – the sanctuary is protection to endemic Swayne’s hartebeest and it the home of endemic and common birds are quite seen including Ethiopian bush crow and white-tailed swallow, ostrich, the site is good for Burchell’s zebra, and a smaller number of Grant Gazelle and Gerenuk.
