5 Days Trekking in Bale mountain

Day 1

After breakfast the joureny starts as we drive from Addis Ababa to Bale mountain national park, through Great Ethiopian Rift Valley, Some 400kms southeast of the capital, stopping for lunch on the way and adimire the landscapes of the the Great Rift valley lakes with its impressive aquatic birdlife, on arrival at the park headquarters we will have a brief break, then have the chance to spot animals species such as the endemic mountain Nyala, Manlike Bushbuck, as well as reedbuck, common warthogs, all commonly seen in the area around the headquarters.

Birds species seen in the area include the endemic Abyssinia catbirds, white-bucked black tit, blue-winged goose, and spot-breasted lapwing, Abyssinia long claw, wattles ibis, black-headed siskin, Rouget rail, both only found in Ethiopia and Eritrea. Overnight is spent at the Dinsho loge.

Day 2 Dinsho to Sodota

After an Earl morining breakfast, we depart for sodota a Beautiful village set within a magical landscapes, stopping en route to take a view, lunch will be at the Habera waterfall, then we continue to sodota where we reach our campsite, there is a chance to spot the Ethiopian wolf, several species of rodent which are preyed upon by the wolf as well as endemic birdlife along with beautiful seasonal flower. lunch is taken en route then continue to Sodota chance to spot Ethiopian wolf and birds of the area including raptors such as tawny eagle, Augur Buzzard, mountain buzzard, lammergeyer thick billed raven, Rock hyrax and rodents commonly seen in the area, that is the best prey for Ethiopian Wolfe, trekking time will be take us 6-7 hours. Overnight at sodota campsite.

Day 3 Sodota to Wasema

Today trek to wasema campsite is through more stunning landscapes with the chance to see many species of birds, in particular, different types of raptors such as Lammergeyer and Verreaux eagles tawny eagle keeping the nets, on the high clif, chance to spot Ethiopian wolf and rodent species and the plants of the area such as Helichrysum spp. Afroalpine grassland and Erica bushland and Satureja spp, the distances covered today is around 15kms and will take 5-6 hours. the campsites is at an altitude of 3900 meters above sea level, Overnight at the Wasema campsite.

Days 4 Wasema to Garba Guracha

this morning, after breakfast, we will start the trekking from Wasema to Gebra guracha campsite,one of the largest alpine lakes, reaching depth of around 6m and with a name that means black lake in local language, situated at a height of over 4000 meters above sea level, the 17kms walk will take us around 7-8hours. passing through spectacular wargona valley, Chance to spot Ethiopian wolf, Gaint more rat, and birds of the area such as raptors tawny eagle, steppe eagle, Golden eagle, Augur Buzzared, common Buzzared,Lammergeier and Falcons. Overnight at the Garba Guracha campsite

Day 5 Sanetti plateau to Goba

this morening After breakfast we make our way to the main road, rejoin our vehicles and drive to the sconde highest mountain in Ethiopia, Tuluu Dimtuu, situated at a height 4377 meters above sea level, (to make the short climb), Chance to spot birds of the area such as African black duck, northern Shoveler, yellow-billed duck, including one of the largest birds wattle crane, we drive from sanetti plateau to Awasa via shashamane for refreshment at lake Awasa.

the lake home to many sepecies of birds and hippocampus can be seen on boat trip, which including a visit to the interessting fish market. the town of Awasa lies on the shore of this peaceful lake, which has a surface area of 129 suquare kilometers, and only 10m at its deep poin, the lake contains a great variety of fish which in turn attract many water bird. overnight at a Hotel or resort in Awasa.
